This before photo shows a space that doesn’t look like a bad kitchen. In our business of remodeling homes in the Kansas City area, we aren’t just shooting to create spaces that are OK. We remodel to bring function and a brillant new feel!
We create spaces that are based on dreams. The finished homes started as: discussions, hopes, sketches, wishes, and a list of needs. We take all of that information, and that dream becomes a homeowner’s reality. This particular main floor was not a functional floor plan or our homeowners. They want to live life all together in one harmonious space. As well as functional needs, their kitchen aspirations have a more modern cleaner look and feel in mind.
In October we started demo as the first step in creating the large open space the homeowners are in need of. Before, the space was more traditional in style. We are working to reveal a Contemporary/Farmhouse look. The style term for the new look and feel is Transitional. We will be pairing clean lines with the warmth of a traditional farmhouse.
Instead of a boxy kitchen with dark cabbies the remodeled space will be open and L-shaped kitchen with two perpendicular counters. The Great Room will now be completely open to the Kitchen, with the dining and living areas share a single space. cabinets will move from carved insets, to a cleaner Shaker style. Flat, rectangular door frame surrounding a recessed center in a linen white finish.
When walls come tumbling down we get amazing results. That wall that once hid a small kitchen now is gone and the new kitchen is coming to life. Now the owners can cook, play, do work, and hang out with each other in this beautiful new space. Nobody wants to be boxed in the kitchen alone while the rest of life goes on in the Great Room.
Some parts of the home were just too beautiful to change. The floor is one of those. They are keeping the original red oak. It will be refinished with medium walnut stain and lacquer topcoat by SVB flooring. When you use professionals like SVB Flooring you can save the old beautiful floor, and meld it seamlessly into the new space.
The crisp look will be carried into the counters. The homeowners will be able to entertain and create delicious meals on their new “Super White” Quartizite from Granite Center in Lenexa. The island counter is a show stopping combination of the Super White Quartzite and a Custom Walnut Slab. We can’t wait to see this custom piece installed. Stay tuned in to the blog, as we share the next phase. We are putting in the appliances, and “jewelry” of lighting and hardware.
